NOTES

1 -- See Walter Geer, The story of terra cotta [New York: Tobias A. Wright, 1920], p. 294. His obituary was published in The New York Times, 19 Jan. 1946, p. 13.

2 -- For some biographical information on Fudge, see The New York Times, 27 Nov. 1915, p. 4, and Sunday Star (Washington, DC), 11 Oct 1931, pp. 4, 11.

Basil Woon was a playwright and author. In 1929, his wife was Fleurette de Cabrieres, and in 1940 his wife was Lillian Margaret Finierre.

3 -- The use of Homé (pronounced "Homey") as a given name is somewhat unusual, and very rare. She was originally named "Homie", but her mother modified the spelling to "Homé" when she (Homie/Homé) was still a pre-teen. Homie/Homé's father was a friend of Colin Campbell Cooper (d. 1937), an artist, whose brother Samuel Williams Cooper (d. 1939), an attorney and author, had married in Jacksonville, Fla., on 28 Dec. 1893, Homie Weldon, an actress and dramatic soprano, daughter of John Homer Weldon, a physician of Jacksonville. Homé was named for her.

Mrs. Homie Weldon Cooper died in 1961 at the age of 96. She and Samuel Cooper had only one child, a Miss Margaret Homie Cooper, who never married and who in December 1961 was living at 2305 Delancey St., Philadelphia 3, Pa.
