NOTES

1 -- On 9 December 1902, Crown Princess Luise left Saxony. Two months later, on 11 February 1903, she was divorced from the Crown Prince. Three months after that, on 4 May 1903, she gave birth to a daughter, Anna Monika Pia.

Because of these circumstances, there was widespread speculation about the paternity of this child. Most speculators ascribed paternity to André Giron, French language tutor of Luise's older children, and the man with whom Luise lived when she left Saxony. Nevertheless, the Crown Prince acknowledged paternity of Anna.

Several years later, Anna was turned over to the Saxon Court at Dresden, and was raised there as a Saxon princess.

According to A. C. Addington, Royal House of Stuart, vol. III [London: Skilton, 1976], p. 13, after her separation from Toselli, Luise m. (3) Conte Luigi Guicciardini, and then m. (4) an American who died in 1914. This information does not appear anywhere else.
