FURTHER NOTES




The statement by Pininski, infra, p. 261, that of the "descendants of the last of the Stuarts, the senior of whom is Count Stanislas Piniński, then his son (the present writer)" is based on his definition of "seniority", which appears on the same page: "Where the number of passes through the female line is equal, seniority is by proximity of the Stuart quartering to the respective male line, then by order of birth."

This concept of "seniority" has nothing to do with genealogical representation, such as "heir of line". The heir of line of Victoire de Rohan, demoiselle de Thorigny, will be found among the descendants of Charlotte de Nikorowicz (+1951, see note 7, above). Count Stanislas Piniński would not become the heir of line of the demoiselle de Thorigny until the complete extinction of the issue of Charles de Nikorowicz (number 7), Stanislas de Nikorowicz (number 9), and Countess Julia Pinińska Wolańska (number 14).
