NOTES

15 -- Her sister Sara (1845-1897) was one of the eleven "Mercer Girls" who, in 1864, were sent from Lowell, Mass., to Seattle, Wash. The story of the "Mercer Girls" was the historical basis of the 1968-1970 television series "Here Come The Brides".

21 -- Her brother was Robert Graham Dun (1826-1910), who, along with his brother-in-law Benjamin Douglass (number 20), was involved in the early history of what is now Dun & Bradstreet. See http://www.dnb.com/about/company_story/history/ for further details.

34 -- Perez and Willett, op. cit., pp. 11-12 (with notes on p. 19), state, without evidence, that Michel Dylion was originally from France, that as a teenager he (and a brother) were orphaned by the mob during the French Revolution and raised by their uncle Arthur Richard Dillon, Archbishop of Narbonne, and that Michel was later a soldier in Napoleon's Grand Armée and left the Army while in Poland and stayed there. Archbishop Arthur Richard Dillon was a younger brother of the 10th and 11th Viscounts Dillon of Costello-Gallin, and no such nephew can be found in any Dillon genealogy.
