NOTES

29 -- See "Delameter and O'Horro/O'Horo [of] Metcalfe Village in 1879" at http://www.bytown.net/delameter.htm.

58 -- One of the contributors to the Delameter family web page cited above states that "William Delemater may have been born in Odeltown, QC," but the comment is not explained. (Odelltown, as the name was more commonly spelled, was a hamlet now incorporated in Lacolle, in Chateauguay County, Quebec.)

59 -- At the time of her death she was living on lot 30 in the 7th concession of Osgoode Tp., which by this time was in Carleton Co. In the record she is called a farmer's wife (not widow), which strictly speaking should imply that her husband was then alive; but an examination of neighboring entries in the record suggests that no distinction appears to have been made between the terms "wife" and "widow." The 1901 census might settle the question, but we have not succeeded in finding Rebecca therein. Unfortunately, she died during a period when the format of death registers in Ontario had sunk to an abysmal state, and no longer required the maiden surname or the parents' names to be entered.
